Velkomin á vísindavefinn Velkomin á vísindavef leikskólans Iðavallar, Akureyri. Í skólanum eru 2-5 ára börn á fjórum aldursskiptum deildum. Á heimasíðu skólans má nálgast frekari upplýsingar. Þegar gengið er inn í skólann er eitt það fyrsta sem gestir reka augun í að margmenning er áberandi. Í forstofum er myndrænt boðið góðan dag á mörgum tungumálum og fánar og alheimskort blasa við. Börn og starfsmenn eru úr ýmsum áttum, ekki bara hvað varðar hæfileika heldur einnig þjóðerni. Á margmenningarvefnum eru skýrslur um móttöku tvítyngdra barna og íslenskukennslu. Í leikskólanum er vilji er til að vinna að góðu og innihaldsríku samstarfi við heimili allra barnanna og þess vegna er hluti af upplýsingum á vefnum á ensku. Daglegt líf á Iðavelli snýst um leik, athafnir, verkefni og samskipti sem miða að því að gefa börnunum fjölbreytt tækifæri til að læra, helst með því að uppgötva og reyna sjálf en stundum með dyggri aðstoð annarra. Verkefni snúast oftar en ekki um áhugamál barnanna og leitast er við að horfa á sterku hliðar hvers og eins, bæði barna og kennara. Kennslufræði leikskóla byggir á samþættingu náms- og þroskaþátta. Leikskólakennarar líta á nám og þroska barna sem órjúfanlega heild og þegar unnið er að verkefnum er reynt að flétta saman mörg námssvið og fjölmarga þroskaþætti. Í Aðalnámsskrá leikskóla 1999 eru nefnd sex námssvið og eitt þeirra er náttúra og umhverfi. Það er ekki hvað síst þar, sem verkefnin á þessum vef eiga markmið sín þó önnur séu sjaldan langt undan. Allar myndir í borðum og hnöppum eru af pöddum sem börnin hafa safnað. Njótið vel. On the school's homepage can be found further information. When one walks into the school, one of the first things which a visitor would notice is that multiculturalism is apparent. In the entrance are pictures which have both 'Good Day' in many languages and national flags. A world map is also displayed. Children and staff differ, not only in talent, but also in nationality. On the multicultural website is information about Icelandic teaching and also about bilingual children. The kindergarten is keen to work on good relationships with the families of all the children and for this reason some of the information on the website is in English. Daily life at Iðavöllur revolves around play, activities, work and cooperation which works towards giving the children the opportunity to learn, to discover themselves and to explore their boundaries, both on their own and also with the help of others. The projects usually relate to the interests of the children and we also try to look at the strengths of the individuals, both the children and the teachers. Kindergarten teaching builds on bringing together learning and the development of the whole person. Teachers consider education and development as integral and therefore, when we work on projects we try to bring together as many aspects of the curriculum as possible, together with the development of the person. In the curriculum for kindergartens six learning areas are named and one of these is Nature and the Environment. That is the reason why some of the projects on this website are from that learning area, although other learning areas are also involved when the children work on their projects. Leikskóli við sjóinn Eldri börn skoða lífið í sjónum.	Snjókaka (Neðst á síðunni) Þriggja ára börnin bjuggu til snjóköku. Þar var snjórinn skoðaður og bakaður.	Læknar og pylsur í brauði Yngstu börnin fara í hlutverkaleik og æfa sig í að leika saman.
Á hverjum tíma eru mörg verkefni í vinnslu og sum taka allan veturinn. At any one time there are many projects being worked on and some of them take the whole winter.
